E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque 2018

The E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque 2018 is one of the flagship wines of Maison Guigal and one of the most prestigious single-vineyard expressions of Côte-Rôtie.

Produced from a remarkable terroir combining the power of the Côte Brune with the elegance associated with the Côte Blonde, La Turque is a deeply concentrated, aromatic and refined Northern Rhône red wine.

The blend consists of 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier, sourced from vines averaging approximately 40 years of age.

Tasting Notes

La Turque shows a deep ruby-red colour with dark reflections.

The nose is intense and expressive, offering aromas of red berries, blackberry, Morello cherry and fine spice.

On the palate, the wine combines concentration with remarkable elegance. The texture is supple, the tannins are refined and the structure is beautifully balanced.

It is a wine of exceptional depth, combining the strength and intensity of Côte Brune with a more graceful and aromatic character.

Terroir & Winemaking

The vineyard is planted on siliceous limestone and schist-based soils with clay rich in iron oxides.

Following fermentation and an extended maceration, the wine is matured for approximately 40 months in new oak barrels.

This long ageing period gives the wine additional complexity and depth while allowing the character of the vineyard to remain clearly defined.

Food Pairing

Serve at approximately 16–18°C.

• Mature cheeses

Decanting is recommended, particularly while the wine is still relatively young.
